The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), in collaboration with MyGov, has launched a special initiative titled “My UPSC Interview – From Dream to Reality” to commemorate its centenary year.
This initiative invites all individuals who have appeared for the UPSC Personality Test (Interview) — in Civil Services or other UPSC examinations — to share their personal stories, reflections, and lessons from that defining experience.
🏛️ Why This Matters
-
Celebrating 100 Years of UPSC
UPSC has been conducting fair and transparent recruitment since 1926, and this centenary offers a chance to reflect, learn, and inspire. -
Making Interviews Transparent
Often, the interview (or personality test) is a mysterious “black box” for future aspirants. Real stories help demystify it — the preparation, the mindset, the unexpected questions, and reflections afterward. -
Building a Legacy Repository
The submissions will create a public archive of memories and anecdotes that aspirants, educators, and administrators can draw upon for years to come.
🎯 Who Can Participate?
-
Eligible Contributors
Members (serving or retired) of any government service or organisation under Government of India who have appeared in the UPSC Interview / Personality Test stage (in Civil Services or other UPSC exams) are eligible. -
Own Voice Required
Each submission must be the personal, first-person narrative of the aspirant themselves — submissions made on behalf of someone else will be rejected.

Usage Rights
By submitting, participants grant UPSC non-exclusive rights to reproduce, publish, or use selected content in official communications, websites, or print media. -
Recognition
Selected entries may be featured in published compilations, and contributors may receive UPSC memorabilia or centenary stamps. Note: there is no monetary compensation. -

Personal data (name, contact, Aadhaar, etc.) will be used only for verification and record-keeping. UPSC will comply with data protection norms.
🧭 Tips to Craft a Strong Submission
-
Be Authentic & Reflective
Share emotional highs and lows — nervousness, surprises, self-doubts — but also learning and growth. -
Include Vivid Details
Small moments make submissions memorable: reactions of board members, a particular question that resonated, body language, gestures. -
Structure Your Story
Consider a simple flow: background → pre-interview mindset → crossing into the room → key exchanges → reflections afterward. -
Meaning & Insight Over Showcases
Avoid self-praise or boasting — focus more on what you felt, discovered, learned, and how the interview impacted you. -
Adhere Closely to the Guidelines
Word limits, language, originality — failure to comply may lead to rejection, regardless of how stirring the narrative is.
